Snow day, 27 January

January

In January
it’s so nice
while slipping
on the sliding ice
to sip hot chicken soup
with rice.
Sipping once
sipping twice
sipping chicken soup
with rice.

12 January, Snow Day

The Snowflake
~~Walter de la Mare

Before I melt,
Come, look at me!
This lovely icy filigree!
Of a great forest
In one night
I make a wilderness
Of white:
By skyey cold
Of crystals made,
All softly, on
Your finger laid,
I pause, that you
My beauty see:
Breathe, and I vanish
Instantly.

23 November, Snow Day

“Things to Do If You Are the Snow”

Dance, dance, dance all the night.
Fly in the sky—
Cover all the streets—
Cover all the grass—
Pile up on the rooftops—
Perch on the branches of all the trees—
Sparkle when the sun shines—
Quiet the city.
Close the schools.
