A new month is upon us. Parent-Teacher conferences are going to be October 22nd. I have written different days and times that I will be holding conferences at the bottom. Please call the office at 623-8677 to set up a time. If you are not able to make any of these times please let me know.
In literacy this week the students are working on book handling skills. Some of the skills include: print contains a message, which way print is read and punctuation. The students practiced writing the letter C and are practicing the 2 sounds the letter makes. They really enjoy bringing in something that starts with the letter of the week. Share time is a great way to reinforce letter recognition and other phonemic skills. The students are working on story webs and looking for details in pictures and text. Next week they can bring in something that starts with a D.
In math, we are working on one-to-one correspondence. We also have begun number formation for numbers 1-10.
The colder weather will be with us sooner then we think. If you are in the market for a new winter jacket this season for your child, bring them with you to make sure they can zip the jacket independently. Children feel good about themselves if they can dress independently during the winter season. Also remember to label jackets and other clothing.
We finished our apple unit by making applesauce and making rip art apples with our reading buddies. Next week our theme is fire safety.
Stefoni Ingalls (Nevaeh’s mom) will be our room parent this year. I will be giving her phone numbers so she can contact people to help out with celebrations. If you do not want me to give out your number please send a note in with your child by October 15th. Hope you had a great weekend.
