Graduation Date Change

Please Take Note of This!

The date of graduation for the Class of 2008 has been changed from Saturday, June 7, 2008 to Saturday, June 14, 2008. It will still be held at 7:00 PM.

State law requires that seniors attend high school no less than 5 days from the last day of school for undergraduates.  With the excessive snow days, this prompted our school board to formally change the date - which they did at the February 14 board meeting.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope that this early notification will allow relatives and friends of our seniors to make any neceesary changes in travel plans.

Don’t know what you want to do with your life?

Neither did these folks.

Take some time and watch the video diaries at www.roadtripnation.com
or watch the series on PBS.  Either way, you can get GREAT advice from folks that have made a difference to themselves and the world in one way or another.
It’s inspiring
enlightening
fun
illuminating
entertaining
and may just change how you look at your future.

Intramural Facilitator

December 5, 2007
Dylan Sirois
School Board Representative

To promote wellness, the Hall-Dale School board has officially recognized the position of Intramural facilitator. In the High School during lunch, and possibly after school, the gyms will be used for special events and games for the student body. There was an experiment performed several years ago, where Mr. MacDougall opened the gym during lunch to a dodge ball tournament, and it was well liked by students. Many students got involved and it was a lot of fun. The Wellness committee is working hard to promote eating right and exercise. By having an Intramural facilitator things should flow smoothly and students will have more physical activities. Another step towards greater wellness is guaranteeing that any event that takes place in School Facilities is coherent with the Wellness Policy. This policy can be found on the Hall-Dale website, and will be officially added to facility use regulations.

The School Principals each made reports on their goals, and work they have done to better their schools. One thing mentioned by each principal, Christine Chamberlain, Steve Lavoie, and Steve MacDougall, was the standards based grading system. The elementary school already has this grading system although it is not to the quality that would be necessary for middle school or high school. Teachers are being trained as best as they can be although the reporting system has not yet been created and agreed upon by all parties. The Principal’s Advisory Council, or PAC, has taken on the task of fully communicating standards to the students, as well as gathering input from students.

The Student Senate will soon be allotted a position within the School Board Agenda each meeting, under committee reports. A website is also being created for the Student Senate. There will be polling, forums, and various other reports made by the Senate. I hope you will all be as active as possible in the decisions that are made within the School as you are usually the most greatly affected.

Respectfully Submitted,
Student School Board Rep. Dylan Sirois
