China is such an amazing country, we were there for two weeks (for Sophia’s adoption) in 2005 (JiangXi province) and loved it so much.  We didn’t want to leave!

You’re right about the traffic, and you pegged it perfectly.  Lots of honking, but no anger or aggression.  We quickly learned to step out onto the street, but don’t hesitate, as the drivers are timing your paces, and will just miss you.  If you stop of hesitate - that could spell big trouble!  We took a taxi ride that was unbelievable.  Traveling at high speeds through the city streets, passing busses on the wrong side of the road, to pull back into our lane at just the right moment to avoid a head on collision.  All while the driver was relaxes and beeping the taxi’s horn constantly.  Good times.
