SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
M.S.A.D. #16 shall comply with and implement the Federal Individuals with Disabilities Act and Title 20-A M.R.S.A., Chapters 301 and 302 as supplemented by Chapter 101 of the Maine Department of Educational and Cultural Services Regulations. To that end, M.S.A.D. #16 shall provide a free appropriate public education to all students with disabilities for whom the district has legal responsibility.
A student with a disability is an individual who:
a. has reached age five years on or before October 15
b. has neither graduated from a secondary school program with a regular high school diploma nor
reached 20 years of age at the start of the school year; and
c. has been evaluated according to these rules and has been determined to have a disability which
requires the provision of special education and supportive services.
