All of us at
Hall-Dale High School share a common goal and that is that
each student has a successful and rewarding experience at
HDHS. You, as a student, can assist us in achieving that
goal by practicing two key concepts each and every day in
your school: respect and responsibility. We all need to work together collaboratively to create an
environment that is conducive to learning and personal
growth. respect for self and others is an essential
component of that positive environment. Teasing,
name-calling, harassing, fighting, and intolerance are
destructive elements that run counter to goal. No one should
feel uncomfortable, coming to school because they are being
subjected to these negative behaviors. Treat others -
students and faculty alike - the way you wish to be
treated. Take responsibility for your learning. School is hard
work. But you can facilitate your learning by practicing
responsible behaviors daily: come to each class prepared
with the materials necessary for that day; complete homework
assignments when due; put in the time and effort studying
for tests and quizzes that is needed to get a grade
representative of your ability; be attentive in each class;
be an active participant in each class; attend school
regularly; and seek extra help when needed. The old adage,
"You get out of it what you put into it," certainly applies
to your education. Be responsible. Not every student can be an A student. But every student
can benefit from the education that is provided to you at
Hall-Dale High School if you treat yourself and others with
respect, and you take responsibility for your learning. Best
wishes for a great school year!
Our first and most important mission as a school is to
remember we are dealing with human beings. Human beings
filled with dreams and imagination are the raw material of
every school, thus making the purpose of every good school
obvious: to promote ways in which dreams come true and
imagination becomes reality. Hall-Dale recognizes this
purpose not as an ideal but rather as a living working
reality that constantly demands our attention. Whether our students realize their dreams through
technical education, writing, human development or art makes
little difference, but that all our students are encouraged
to pursue their dreams makes all the difference in our
school, our community, and ultimately in our world. This pursuit of individual potential requires the
students, parents, and community as well as the school be
actively involved in the student's own education. Their
dreams can be best realized when the students are encouraged
to come to class prepared, supported in their choice to take
challenging courses, urged to involve themselves in the life
of the school, and expected to conduct themselves as
responsible citizens of the educational community. If each
faction understands and accepts his or her responsibility,
then all dreams become attainable and all potential becomes
reality.
