Performing Windows Updates
Ensure all desktop work has been saved prior to performing this procedure. Restarts are often required!!
Perform Critical and Security Updates Only!!
Step
| 1. Go to Start Menu and select Windows Update shortcut. Click shortcut once. |
| 1a. If no shortcut is present, open the Internet Explorer browser and enter http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Once on the website, save the URL to the favorites folder. |
| 3. Click on the Scan for Updates hyperlink. |
| 4. After the Update screen refreshes.....if there are no critical or security updates...further updates are not necessary. Close browser normally. |
| 5. If there are Critical Updates and Service Packs, press the Review and Install Updates hyperlink. |
| 6. When and if prompted, acknowledge software license prompts and press OK. |
| 7. If restart is required, restart PC at your convenience or select no to restart later. |
